A tiny church, unlocked for visitors. It is a little gem, tucked away in a hamlet and with a friendly churchwarden called Carole who loves to know that visitors appreciate the church and find it welcoming. It is in the corner of a village green, fronted by the meadow and a pond, on a bend in the road just after a pub called the Wheelhouse. I have noticed that the pub seems to be open on Sunday lunchtimes, though other opening times are a bit of a mystery it seems - not unlike our service pattern which is very typical of rural churches just to keep you guessing! Do ring and ask if you would like to come though as you would be most welcome.
The font is a very attractive feature and it faces you as you open the door as a font should - the entry to Christian faith through the waters of baptism is firmly in your eyeline as you enter this ancient place of worship. It is set into the archway of what was once a door on the north side of the church and just above it a delightful arched window and stained glass. There are also ancient wall paintings to fathom and evidence that once there was a rood screen.
It is an intimate and beautiful church to worship in and its services work into a pattern with the neighbouring church so that there are services most Sundays but alternating between the two places - Nedging and Naughton.
If you wish to have a Baptism, Confirmation, Wedding or Funeral Service please contact the Rector directly:

St Mary's Church, Nedging
A little gem of a Suffolk country church, nestling on the edge of Nedging Hall estate at the top of a hill. Everything about it is plain and simply, neat and beautiful, cared for light and welcoming.
The wardens love to see that visitors have been and signed the visitor's book. It is always good to know that leaving the doors unlocked for visitors is worthwhile and that others have enjoyed what the parishioners know and love.
It is a 13th century church with 18th century Gothic additions and has a medieval font. The proportions are pleasing to the eye and here and there details are to be treasured - pew ends, doorways, fresh flowers.
You can park by the gates on weekdays and if there are a few cars around on a Sunday go on past and park in front of the stables next door. If you were to come to a communion service you would be able to see the exquisite needlework on the altar kneelers.
